What is Manta Network?
Manta Network
is the layer one blockchain that brings programmable
privacy to web3 using zero-knowledge proofs. Its suite of
core products and technologies, including zkNFTs and
MantaPay, offers user-friendly access to powerful
ZK-enabled use cases. Leveraging the Poseidon hash and its
own cryptographic innovations, Manta Network offers the
fastest prover speed of any ZK network.
The project is created by a team of experienced founders from prestigious institutions like Harvard, MIT, and Algorand. Manta Network has received investments from some of the top web3 investment funds, including Binance Labs and Polychain, and has grown through participation in the best web3 accelerators, including Alliance DAO and Berkeley Blockchain Xcelerator. Manta Network is poised to bring the next generation of web3 users and usher in a new chapter of privacy-focused web3 applications.

What is a zero-knowledge proof?
A zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) is a cryptographic technology
that allows the truth of a piece of information to be
verified without revealing the information itself. It's
become an increasingly important technology in blockchain,
cryptocurrency, and decentralized finance (DeFi) for
enhancing privacy and security.
It is is a method by which one party (the prover) can prove to another party (the verifier) that a statement is true without revealing any additional information. This is particularly useful when the information is sensitive and the prover doesn’t want the verifier to have access to it.
To learn more, you can read about ZKPs in the article that Manta Network published on Binance Academy.

Isn't the blockchain already private?
No, public blockchains do not privatize information about
your on-chain interactions. Every transaction that a user
makes on-chain is recorded and publicly viewable by anyone
or any entity with an Internet connection. By default, the
public blockahin offers pseudo-anonymity, which is not the
same as privacy. Pseudo-anonymity is when a user's
identity is not revealed, but their transactions are still
visible to the public. It is achieved through using a
wallet address, which appears as a random alphanumeric
string. But once the wallet address is linked to a
real-world identity, the user's transactions are no longer
anonymous. Many tools exist to link a wallet address to a
real-world identity, and analytics tools can be used to
track a user's on-chain activity without consent.
Can I build on Manta Network?
Yes, you absolutely can build on Manta Network! Our
APIs and SDKs
are friendly for both web3 and web2 developers alike.
Unlike with other dapp-focused chains, building and
integrating with Manta Network does not require a
developer to build a decentralized application from
scratch; instead, you can add Manta's ZK-powered
privacy-preservation tools directly into mobile or desktop
applications in both the web2 and web3 space. Using
Proof Keys, developers can build an entirely wallet-less user
experience for their users.
